BANK OF GHANA WELCOMES OTUMFUO OSEI TUTU II

Bank of Ghana hosted the King of the Asante Kingdom – His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on 7th January, 2026. The visit at the Bank Square (Bank of Ghana Head Office), which brought together 20 paramount and divisional chiefs, media and the Bank Officials, was basically to appreciate and congratulate the Governor – Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama on his relentless efforts in keeping the cedi stronger against the dollar, including the depreciation of high interest rate on stock market and the appreciation of sound economy; particularly on goods and services.

According to Otumfuo, no amount of investment by government on its own would have erased the past experiences of recession on productivity and the high cost of living. As a result, this moment of fiscally responsible and robust economy must continue, and not on any account, should government again, rely on foreign donors for Ghana’s sound economy. Also, he mentioned that, this moment calls for a massive push for government through Bank of Ghana to continue stimulating domestic private investment in industries to a level where Ghana becomes, a stimulant hub or a center of business and wealth creation.

Again, he addressed that, the Bank of Ghana is a unique institution with the ultimate mandate, whose obligations and decisions affects every citizen of the Ghana Land. As such, its stronghold as the financial institution of Ghana, it should be purposeful in its decisions and deliberations that will positively impact and affect the welfare of the Ghanaian people and also maintain the integrity of the Bank at the spotlight, always.

Finally, he concluded that, the political class should desist from discrediting and blemishing the Governor’s reputation, but should empower and give him and his team the opportunity, space and respect to perform their professional duties. He advised that, the political class should support and counsel the Governor and his team when necessary, as this would assist them thrive Ghana’s economy and the Bank better and even best. “Bank of Ghana is our Bank we have entrusted in them, it is our lives we have placed in their hands, if they fail, we risk collapse, if they succeed, we walk in wealth and Glory”, therefore, let’s positively support them. he advised.
