Ghanaian Tiktoker – Camilla Alhassan on 17th July, 2026, was pronounced to have been sentenced to one year imprisonment over false claims against the President of the Republic of Ghana (President John Dramani Mahama).
The tiktoker on his usual routine of making videos to post on her page, made a video on 10th July, 2026 accusing the President to be involved in criminal acts such as defiling little children, sleeping with Mzbel, drinking alcohol, murdering the late Prez Mills and Amissah Arthur and also proudly saying that, people should assassinate the President and his wife Lordina Mahama, as well as making claims against Ibrahim Mahama to be involved in drugs like cocaine, money laundering, stealing cars from U.K to be sold in Ghana etcetera. She also mentioned that even the election won by NDC 2024, was only through ritual means since, the party buried 32 cows to gain that victory.
With this information she bravely, rudely and proudly pronounced and spewed out to her followers against the sitting president, she was then invited later on by the Ghana Police Service on that very day to come give evidence of her claims. In another video of hers, she again mentioned to have declined that invitation from the Ghana Police Service, citing that she wants to know her crime and also cannot go there without being accompanied by a family member. As a result, the Ghana Police undertook their mandate to arrest her to give evidence of her claims against the President; which was later also informed that, the said Camilla had no substantive evidence to her loose talks but just wanted to trend and to tarnish the President’s image due to her party affiliation with the NPP.
The court then after sitting on her case sentenced her to one year imprisonment after she underwent a pregnancy test and pleaded guilty to all these charges, as well.
From the media in terms footage of her appearance at the court premises after the pronouncement also, Camilla was seen rudely murmuring and not even feeling remorseful of her actions. But rather acting tough and bravery; of which the general public and leaders who saw her body language and posture asserted through their comments on the socials that her imprisonment period should have even been longer than pronounced, in order to serve as a way of punishment to discourage people from hiding behind Freedom of Speech to engage in misconduct in this country. Since already, about 5 to 10 people who also engaged in similar thing and went viral to insult the President got pardoned and granted bail by the court which was also covered up for them by the opposition party (NPP).
“We must instill some form of discipline even if it is jail term into youths of these days to stop disrespecting authorities”, said a leader.
