GHANA BECOMES VISA-FREE COUNTRY FOR ALL AFRICAN COUNTRIES – PREZ MAHAMA ANNOUNCED

John Dramani Mahama, the President of the Republic of Ghana as part of Africa Day Celebrations, disclosed that effective 25th May, 2026, all African Countries can now visit Ghana without necessarily undergoing the Visa Application Processes. This announcement on 2nd April, 2026 by the President, occurred during the State Visit Ceremony between him and His Excellency – Emmerson Mnangagwa; President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, at the premises of Peduase Lodge.

Prez Mahama at this meeting mentioned that, the policy yet to be implemented is to create unity among Africans and for them to be able to receive e-visas online, free of charge. Even though the event centered on bilateral talks between Ghana and Zimbabwe, the President used the opportunity to fully welcome all other African countries who may want to visit Ghana, hence forward. He used the occasion to encourage Africans to portray unity, resilience, fortitude, stability especially on the part of being brave for their ancestors in recovering from difficulties, traumas, hardships that colonial masters made them to endure under the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

During the event, both Presidents led respective delegations in detailed discussions on enhancing cooperation between their respective countries in several areas including trade, tourism, health, sanitation, agriculture, fight against corruption as well as tackling unemployment issues. These talks by the two leaders followed signing and exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to cover key areas of mutual interest, going forward.

The Zimbabwe President as part of his visit between 1st April, 2026 to 3rd April, 2026, managed to also stopped in at the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC); a facility which utilizes nuclear energy for cancer treatment, and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, to receive briefings on Ghana’s progress in healthcare delivery and waste management technologies. He as well paid a call at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s founding Father; and applauded all the good works done or achieved by fellow African Leaders.

Emmerson Mnangagwa during his final moments in Ghana, expressed deepest gratitude to the people of Ghana particularly to Prez Mahama, for the exceptional hospitality shown to him and also indicated that, this visit has really motivated his vision to see similar high improvement especially in creating high state of art medical facility for Zimbabweans to bolster their healthcare systems, as well.
