
Mohammed Ishamail Sherif popularly known on stage as “Blacko or Black Sherif” has won the TGMA 2026 Awards as Artiste of the Year on 9th May, 2026. The Ghanaian singer, rapper and songwriter was said to have won this title or award and be celebrated at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre because; he has claimed and achieved prestigious awards that night to showcase his talents and popularity in the music industry.
Over the past, the 24-year Sherif was known to have risen from Knongo –Zongo where he blended Highlife, Afrobeats and Drill to become a global star and also known to have become Artiste of the Year in 2023 and 2026, which predominantly means that he is the second person in the music industry to own twice of these titles after stonebwoy. Many also believe that, Sherif will be the first musician to break records into getting 3 or more of these Awards in the coming years.
According to him, no songs of his has ever even taken three days except on “changes song”, which he asserted that it was the hardest song on ‘Iron Boy’ album during its recording. This is because all his ‘hits’ including– Kwaku the Traveller, The Villian I Never Was, Soma Obi and many other entertaining songs, usually only takes him about 12hours to fully write and record.

The 24-year-old musician revealed that each track of his were also the most easiest for him to make without difficulties and ‘this win’ in 2026, marks his fourth award of his nine nominations, thereby encouraging him to strengthen his dominance and to intensify his talents into winning more awards for his team, family and the country at large.
This night of awards also dominated many other musicians like Medikal, Diana Hamilton, Fameye, Sarkodie, Kojo Blak, Joyce Blessing, King Paluta, Mabel Okeyere, Wendy Shay, Kofi Kinaata, Celestine Donkor, King Promise, Mr. Drew, Gyakie and many others, who were equally also recognized. The event was fun and memorable for all including foreign nationals.
