GHANA IS 69

Today, the Republic of Ghana celebrates 69 years of being independent since 6th March, 1957, under the theme – Building Prosperity, Inspiring Hope. The ceremony which was celebrated at the Jubilee House sparkled and rekindled some form of excitement and interest in the general public to appreciate the founder of the nation’s freedom – Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and all leaders who assisted in the processes. More importantly, the occasion today made many to recall the amazing work done by Ghana’s first President (Dr. Kwame Nkrumah) and appreciated his efforts once more, for conducting a noble struggle to uphold Ghana’s integrity and its sovereignty for present-day generations.

Ghanaians today, rocked in styles and fashion by showcasing jerseys, kente and different materials to portray the Pan-African colours; usually on the Ghana Flag (Red, Yellow, Black star and Green). They did these to demonstrate the love for the nation including the peace and stability the nation have had since 6th March, 1957. This level of confidence and endless love for the nation was as well portrayed among traders from various markets including Taifa Burkina market women and young girls, where they also manifested the Ghanaian cultures like foods, fashion etcetera, in grand style whilst marching out in full excitements. Some surrounding countries like; Nigerians and Liberians citizens also celebrated this beautiful day with Ghanaian nationals on their socials particularly – Tiktok; where, they were also seen hoisting the Ghana’s flag with amazing Ghana songs, its national anthem alongside demonstrating their dancing skills and steps.

During this event, the President of the Republic of Ghana – His Excellency John Dramani Mahama also addressed that, today is also another day for all to commemorate the freedom given to Ghanaians by previous bearers 69years ago, and as architects and witnesses in this Historical moment of liberty, it is paramount for all to demonstrate red for courage, the yellow/gold for wealth, the green for forest and the black star to continue shining as a beacon of hope for Africa and the diaspora. He also asserted that the theme for this event is more than just ceremonial, because, it represents a covenant between the government and his people. That is to say – the theme signifies a solemn promise of which every decision made or every policy implemented must be in the interest of the people and must foster prosperity and renew their hope, going forward.
